rainbow

The bow in the clouds is given as the sign of God's covenant after the flood.

ram

A ram appears in Abram's covenant rite and is later offered by Abraham at Moriah in Isaac's place. For the priests' consecration two unblemished rams are taken with a young bull: one is a burnt offering; the other is the ram of investiture.

ram's-horn

The ram's horn is the signal at Sinai: when it sounds a long blast, the people may go up the mountain. Daybreak then brings a very loud trumpet blast as Yahweh descends.

rams-skins

Rams' skins dyed red are given as a freewill contribution and made into a cover for the tent over the Dwelling.

raven

Noah first released a raven before sending out the dove.

reeds

Reeds grow at the river's edge where Moses' papyrus basket is laid, and where Pharaoh's daughter notices it while bathing.

resin

Resin is among Ishmaelite trade goods bound for Egypt in Genesis 37 and among the gifts Jacob sends to Joseph in Genesis 43.

rib

The rib is taken from the man in the Genesis 2 creation account of the woman.

ring

A gold ring is given to Rebekah; Pharaoh puts his ring on Joseph. Those whose hearts prompt them bring rings as a freewill contribution of gold for the Tent of Meeting.

robe

The robe of the ephod, made entirely of violet-purple, with an opening for the head and a woven border so it will not tear. Pomegranates and golden bells alternate on its lower hem; Aaron must wear it when he officiates so the tinkling is heard in the sanctuary. At consecration it is put on Aaron with the ephod.

rock

At Horeb Yahweh waits on the rock; Moses strikes it with his staff, and water comes out for Israel to drink at Rephidim. When Yahweh's glory passes by, Moses stands on the rock and is hidden in a cleft of it.

ruby

A precious stone in the third row of the breastplate of judgement, with hyacinth and amethyst.
